The Detangling Process

In my 30s, I started untangling my faith. Some call it deconstruction and reconstruction, but I think of it as detangling

Maybe that's because I spend so much time combing my daughters’ hair, carefully teasing out knots I’d rather just chop. I know that patience and care makes their hair stronger and healthier in the long run.

I think the same is true with faith.

Through the long, messy, painful process of detangling, I’ve learned a lot. Mostly, I’ve learned that:

  • You can lose your certainty without losing your faith.
  • There’s almost always more than one way to understand Scripture.
  • Love (living it and showing it) is far more important than perfect doctrine.

Most of all, I finally came to believe that I am truly, fully loved.

If you still love Jesus deeply but feel cramped by beliefs that once felt certain, come detangle here.

If you're also trying to raise kids in a healthier version of faith…girl, me too.
