Hello friend!
I’m so glad you’re here to join me for coffee! I'm having a Vanilla Frappe. What are you having?
What were your thoughts on the chapter? It’s interesting to think about our quests, asking, “What do I think will make me happy or confident?” I really thought the answer was beauty, but I was so wrong.
Below are two videos:
- The "Not Good Enough" video is one I created a few years ago, starring my sister Amy and cousin Bekah. (And yes, the music is yours truly + garageband loops ;)). It still gets me every time. I hope it'll get you thinking about this question: "What do I think will make me good enough? And can those things ever satisfy my heart?" Maybe you too can write it down and shatter those thoughts!
- The "Beautiful" video is the Bethany Dillon song I told you about today -- that popped on the radio and captivated me! Check it out -- I think you'll love it! :)
Bible Reading: If you want to see what the Bible has to say about this idea of an "insatiable quest,"
check out John 4:5-15. (If you don't have a Bible, you can actually read all of the Bible online or on the free YouVersion app -- how awesome is that?!) Here's what I think about when I read these verses: There are many places we go to try and satisfy our souls, but there is only one place that truly satisfies the depths of our hearts; only one place where we can drink and never thirst again. All other quests leave us insatiably thirsting for more. Read this beautiful passage to find what Jesus said about living water that quenches our thirst.
I’ll leave you with those three things for today. But get ready, because pretty soon I’ll be throwing a whole smorgasbord of resources at you! :) It’s like my parents say to dinner guests – after your third visit, you’re family. (Then you can help with the dishes.)
Here’s what you can expect to see on future coffee dates:
-
Deleted Scenes: There are some sections of my book that I love, but I took them out so the book wouldn’t be too long.
-
Songs: Music was a huge part of my journey. Writing and listening to music empowered me while releasing the emotions trapped inside. For each chapter I’ll include a list of some songs that helped me during that portion of my journey, with links to their youtube videos.
-
Books: I’ll include a list (again with links) of books that helped me, so you can check them out.
-
Websites/Videos: When applicable, I’ll share helpful websites and/or videos.
As always, you can reach me
